Christmas Eve

Morning Holy Mass for Advent will be celebrated at 9.00. This Christmas Eve is a day of abstinence from meat. The celebration of the Nativity of Christ begins with the evening meal. First, a prayer is said, followed by a reading from the Gospel according to Luke (2:1–7) about the Nativity of Christ. This is followed by the breaking of the Christmas wafer, exchanging festive greetings, and the giving of presents. The Christmas meal, according to the traditions of some peoples, consists of up to 12 vegetarian (mainly fish-based) dishes. It is not customary to drink alcohol during the Christmas meal. After the meal, everyone proceeds to the church for the solemn midnight Christmas Holy Mass
